PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a way of life for me and many others. The war zone I grew up in was called, “Home and Neighborhood.” I am writing for anyone interested in PTSD, mostly for those that there is no before PTSD. Learning to live with, manage, and thrive with PTSD is my goal. I am sharing what I learned. I hope it helps you or whoever you know that lives with PTSD.
I hike in the desert. I came across these shot up damaged saguaros. I am fascinated by their determination to bloom and thrive in hostile conditions, scorching heat, battered, and blooming. A constant reminder that I can thrive where ever I am planted.
If you are in crisis, call 911 immediately. This webpage is information only. Seek professional help.
Years have passed since I started this blog. I am adding CPTSD to the PTSD information. At the time of my diagnosis Complex PTSD was not differentiated from regular PTSD. If you want to know which post tell about CPTSD use that as your search on my page and it will bring up the post I designated specifically for CPTSD. Life is tough, we are tougher. I like the quote I saw on Facebook, “I have survived 100% of my bad days.”
Disclaimer: I am not a psychologist, psychiatrist or any other …ist. I am one woman living with PTSD since before I was 5 years old. Nothing on my website is intended to diagnose, prescribe, or otherwise dictate to anyone else how they should live. Everything I share I read about and/or tried with varying degrees of success. Throughout these pages I recommend getting professional counseling. I am not a professional. I care and I thrive. I hope that each person reading will take responsibility for themselves and their choices. Ask your health care provider about any suggestions that you may want to try. Just because something works for me doesn’t mean it will work for you. I don’t believe that we live in a One-Size-Fits-All world. Thank you for sharing my experience. Good luck.

I’m working on it. Thank you.
if I try to do this alone… I will not make it
This is why I recommend building a team. My team included therapist, doctor, trusted family and friends. I’m cheering for you from my computer. Good luck. Ruth
Hey there! I’ve never done this type of thing before (said everyone, everywhere, ever), but another lovely mental health experience blogger just nominated me for a Blogger Recognition Award and I’m passing the love on to you. What you’re doing is important and your story matters. We need more people to speak up about their experiences and be heard–too many people think PTSD is only for military personnel/veterans (who are also important!) and I believe we need to challenge all the assumptions and misinformation. Putting a human face to the issues is crucial.
Thank you for your blog; it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites!
Thank you J. I started it to let other people know that PTSD is not exclusive to any one group. Sadly, it takes it toll on many.
